Compare kitchen base cabinets with and without worktops, continuous worktop runs, cabinet depths and adjustable-leg heights before choosing units.
Choosing kitchen base units with or without a worktop affects cabinet height, depth, the number of worktop joints and how the kitchen is fitted. This guide explains the key differences before you order.
| Cabinet option | Useful when | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| With worktop | Planning individual units or a layout designed around supplied worktops | Included worktop dimensions, finish, joins and edge details |
| Without worktop | Fitting a separately selected, continuous worktop over several cabinets | Compatible cabinet depths, supports, final height and worktop fitting |
Not all cabinet listings include a worktop. Always check the specific product title, included components and dimensions rather than assuming all base cabinets are supplied in the same way.
A continuous worktop can reduce visible joints across a row of cabinets. However, it needs careful measuring, supports, sink or hob cut-outs and suitable corner connections. A supplied worktop for one cabinet does not necessarily create a seamless surface with a neighbouring unit.
Cabinet depth is not the same as worktop depth. Check each unit's specification before combining products. JD Greta offers both fixed-height cabinets and adjustable-leg (AL) cabinets. Selected adjustable-leg units are approximately 870mm high without a worktop and 908mm with their supplied worktop; always use the dimensions of the exact SKU for your order.
For more on levelling and finishing, see our adjustable cabinet legs guide. Matching plinths may be required separately.

No. Some configurations include a supplied worktop, while others do not. Check the selected product listing.
A separately sourced worktop may suit a run of compatible cabinets. Confirm its dimensions, supports and installation requirements first.
A plinth is normally used to conceal the legs and finish the cabinet run. Check whether it is included with your chosen product or sold separately.
